Contract Spraying
Contract spraying has long been a core service, and has seen dramatic changes over the last five decades. Dedicated high clearance and low ground pressure machines have given way to a specialist self propelled, wide boomed machine, comfortable in all application situations, and now fitted with full GPS control and other technology.
Whilst we have run Bateman sprayers for years we recently changed to a Challenger Rogator. This has proved to be an amazing machine - carrying twice the payload, it treads no more heavily, and in fact one of our customers said it was as light as his Sprayranger. The secret is in the large diameter wheels and all aluminium booms which will work at 24 or 30 metres, Those wheels also enable the impressive 1.2m (4 foot) maximum underbelly clearance.. It also embodies sophisticated technology including Norac boom levelling which has to be seen to be believed, and of course full GPS steering and application management . We can also supply and apply liquid nitrogen for smaller jobs. Our contract rates vary from £3.50/acre depending on size and complexity of job and distance from home.
Unusually, we often operate as a two man team, making use of our trusty Mercedes Unimog mounted bowser. This prevents muddy wheels of the sprayer running back to the fill area and saves time, enabling twice as many hectares a day to be sprayed.
For small jobs we operate a Yamaha quad bike with 3 metre spray boom and/or handlance.
Ideal for confined areas such as small paddocks as well as spraying off footpaths and a round buildings. A specially adapted fixed, single nozzle, spraying behind one rear wheel makes for an excellent vehicle to spray off a narrow headland margin to help prevent sterile brome or other weeds spreading into the crop. It also can be fitted with 24 metre slug pellet applicator. Available for hire with or without an operator from around £100 per day.
